Retrofitting of Shear Compression Failure-Critic Short Columns with a New Technique

One of the reasons that cause collapse buildings is deficient short columns, which need to be retrofitted prevent building in a potential earthquake. External reinforced concrete (RC), steel plates, and fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) jacketing are standard retrofitting methods retrofit columns increase their shear capacity. However, compression failure, effectiveness FRP quite limited due premature buckling material. On other hand, RC not practical because it requires more labor covers architectural places. Thus, main motivation this study present new method including those with dominated failure. For purpose, HSPRCC (high-performance plate-reinforced cementitious composite) was adapted such columns. This combination high-performance perforated plates. Short-column specimens representing existing were using tested. Perforated plates anchored specimen by bolts repair mortar used as matrix.
